Togher Castle, Togher, Dunmanway is to receive €9,000 for roof works and Bantry House will receive €7,000. The announcement is part of a national €2m Built Heritage Investment Scheme, which will benefit 340 heritage projects nationwide. The minimum amount of funding awarded under the scheme is €2,500 up to a maximum of €10,000.
West Cork Labour TD Michael McCarthy has welcomed the announcement of €16,000 for two local heritage structures.
“This scheme not alone saves these wonderful heritage buildings but also allows them to be enjoyed by present and future generations. It is a tangible example of this Government’s commitment to sustainable development, encouraging tourism and inward investment.
‘It is very important that we continue to protect our local heritage and rich cultural legacy.”
