The funding is being allocated by as part of an investment programme into public nursing home facilities.
West Cork TD Michael McCarthy (Labour) stated: ““I am particularly pleased that Minister Kathleen Lynch (Labour) favourably entertained my request for funding for this very worthwhile project.
“Overall, this is an unprecedented investment into public nursing home facilities and the most extensive in the history of the State. It reflects the Government’s determination to maintain the current public nursing home bed stock. It also strongly underlines the Labour Party’s commitment to stand up for the elderly in our communities.
“I am pleased that the very worthwhile Dunmanway Hospital stands to benefit from such an important announcement.”
