Councillor Declan Hurley, from Dunmanway has been elected as the Deputy”Mayor of County Cork, for the coming 6 months.
He replaces Cllr Noel Collins, under an agreement to share the position during the year.
During today’s County Council meeting there were calls from Fianna Fail’s Alan Coleman and Aindreas Moynihan to leave the position vacant, given the economic situation but the Chair of the meeting explained that the council legally has to appoint “some” Councillor to the position.
