Cork South Central Fine Gael TD Jerry Buttimer has welcomed the proposals for an education and training campus on the site of the former Diocesan Seminary at Farranferris.
Deputy Buttimer said “I very much welcome the proposals unveiled for an education and training campus on the site of the former Diocesan Seminary at Farranferris as outlined by Bishop Buckley. The plan is an ambitious one that will offer a unique opportunity and choice to people to continue or return to education. This plan is not just about the north side of Cork but about establishing education and training for all of the people of Cork city
“Bishop Buckley is to be commended for not just selling Farranferris but for his decision in retaining ownership of the campus and in having a vision for the development of the school. The plan as outlined by both he and Michael O’Flynn is one that deserves support.
“As a past pupil of Farranferris I’m very pleased that the school will continue to be used as a educational centre. I am calling on UCC and CIT to engage in a real way in this new exciting plan by locating a portion of one of their faculties to this education and training campus.”
