Former Minister and TD John Gormley will step down as leader of the Greens, saying the party needs new leadership.
The party suffered heavy losses in the general election, losing all their seats in the Dail. However Cork Senator Dan Boyle remains in the Seanad until its elections are held.
An email – seen by TheCork.ie – was sent to Green Party members last evening. In it Mr Gormley urged members to attend a National “regather and refocus” at the end of the month. saying “In order to signal [a] new beginning [he] will not be putting [his] name forward for any position.”
