Labour TD in Cork South Central Ciaran Lynch has welcomed the announcement by US technology company Pivotal that it is expanding its operations in Ireland with an investment of €100 million over the next five years. It means 40 more jobs at its Cork facility at City Gate, Mahon, and 90 in Dublin, where it is creating a software innovation hub.
Pivotal works with many of the world’s most admired brands such as AllState, BMW, Comcast, GE and Verizon, as well as many of the world’s most valuable Internet companies.
Technology is a sector where this government has introduced a series of measures in successive Action Plan for Jobs in order to improve the environment for companies in this area to expand and grow.
Deputy Lynch said:
“I am particularly pleased to see the geographical spread of new jobs with their expansion with 40 new jobs for Cork as well as 90 in Dublin. Ensuring all regions of the country benefit from job creation is what we aim to do in government. Pivotal will be recruiting for full-time software engineering, technical support, operational and general and administrative roles.”
Over the next five years the approximate €100 million investment means a new Pivotal Labs office in Dublin and the expansion of the company’s current operations in Cork. The company’s expansion in Cork shows that City Gate, Mahon, is now firmly recognised as a national hub for IT companies.
Deputy Lynch concluded:
“Pivotal’s investment marks a significant commitment to Ireland and continues our evolution into one of the largest technology hotspots in the world. This level of investment by a technology company is a clear indication of our ability to attract the brightest and best to bring their business to Ireland.”
