Noel Harrington, (Fine Gael TD Cork South West), today welcomed the news that work on the construction of a Community Enterprise Centre, comprising of 3 commercial units, each measuring 2,500 sq.ft., will commence shortly in Dunmanway.
Deputy Harrington said: “I am delighted that following a culmination of many years of hard work by a determined and dedicated committee, that all the i’s are now dotted and t’s crossed, for this project to commence, to give the people of Dunmanway modern commercial space, to service both startup companies and those seeking to expand their current business, and create much needed employment in the area”.
The project is estimated to cost €1m and funding will include a maximum grant of €450k secured from Enterprise Ireland, with Cork Co. Council providing funding of €355K from its Economic Development Fund. The balance will be from community fundraising, of which many successful events have already been run, and well supported by both local businesses and the wider community. This initiative, illustrates the partnership approach to enterprise and economic development is evident in Dunmanway and indeed throughout West Cork.
“I am delighted also to hear that following a competitive tender process, that the contract was awarded to local contractors, Hurley & White Builders Ltd., I would like to offer my continued support to this initiative and to wish everyone involved huge success, in the construction stage and for the many years ahead”
