In an intelligence-led operation this morning (25/07/15), officers from Revenue’s Customs Service seized approximately half a kilo of cocaine with a street value of approximately €40,000 at Cork Airport.
The drugs were expertly concealed in the frame of suitcase. A 28 year old male who disembarked a flight from Faro was questioned and later arrested by Gardaí. He is currently being detained at Togher Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act, 1996.
In a separate operation at Ringaskiddy Ferryport in Cork today (25/07/15), Revenue’s Customs Officers detained €12,000 cash from a 29 year old male who had disembarked a ferry from France. The man was stopped in his vehicle as a result of routine profiling, followed by an indication by Revenue Cash Detector Dog Harvey. The cash was concealed in the man’s luggage and was detained under the proceeds of crime legislation.
