Cork South Central Fine Gael TD Jerry Buttimer has said that upgrading of Clashduv Park will be a great boost for local community. Deputy Buttimer was commenting following an announcement of €10,000 to upgrade the playground by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr James Reilly, TD.
“The playground at Clashduv Park is a fantastic local resource that is used by many families. It is great to see that a significant investment of €20,000 be made available to improve and upgrade the playground. The Department of Children and Youth Affairs is providing €10,000 which will be matched by an additional €10,000 from City Council. This will make a big difference to everyone who uses the park and improving the quality of play and recreational facilities available to children will reap dividends in years to come.
“Green spaces, parks and playgrounds are so important for families and children. Clashduv Park is particularly important for those families and children living in and near the Cork City. These are the people that will benefit from this investment and upgrade.
“Young families living in Togher, Wilton, Glasheen and Bishopstown will now have top quality playground on their doorsteps. Having playgrounds in neighbourhoods is a great addition for any community. It helps to develop a sense of life and vibrancy when children and families use the facilities. I hope that this investment will be a great boost for the local communities in the area and that it will improve the experience for all who use the playground at Clashduv Park.”
