Sinn Féin will hold a convention to select the party’s candidate in Cork South Central for the forthcoming General Election at 1pm
The convention will take place at the Metropole Hotel, MacCurtain Street.
Both City Cllr. Chris O’Leary and County Cllr. Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire are contesting the convention.
This is the second convention, a previous one last month ended in a draw when the two candidates, received the exact same number of votes from the party membership in the constituency.
The selection & convention process is now being re-run in accordance with party rules.
The party’s Ard Fhéis has taken place in the interim, and that gave both candidates more time to prepare.
A party source told TheCork.ie “The party is lucky to have two fantastic public representatives seeking the nomination. It was clearly a very difficult choice to make for all the members last time out.”
