Cork TD Deirdre Clune, Fine Gael Spokesperson on Innovation & Research, visiting Cork schools at the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition has expressed her belief that the participants provide proof that Ireland has a positive future.
“I will be attending the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS today to meet the students of local schools who have projects there including Coláiste Muire in Crosshaven, Douglas Community School, Nagle Community College in Mahon, Regina Mundi in Douglas, Presentation Secondary School in Ballyphehane and St. Aloysius School in Sharman Crawford Street among others.”
“Visiting the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition and meeting students taking part will give people hope for our future. These students, their teachers and parents, had given their time and effort to take part of one of the greatest annual educational events in Ireland.”
“They are proving that young Irish people have the talent and the skills to make sure that Ireland can compete at the cutting edge of this sector if given the opportunity.”
“The real danger is that the generation of young people who have participated in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition over the last five or ten years may be lost to emigration. It will be difficult to rebuild this country if this talented generation is lost to Ireland.”
