People living in parts of Cork with “bad water” might enjoy cheaper rates
per litre.
Nationwide householders will start paying for water from October and
pricing is currently being considered by the Energy Regulator.
Cork County Council has written to Irish Water urging it to compensate
people living in “hard water” areas where limescale is damaging household
appliances.
Separately the Council also wants waivers for people suffering from
irritable bowel syndrome – a medical condition where more water is used..
The problems caused by hard water and limescale are especially noticeable
in parts of East Cork, and in Belgooly according to local elected
representatives.
Fine Gael Cllr Tim Lombard represents the Belgooly area
