The current Lord Mayor of Cork is Labour Cllr Mick O’Connell but TheCork.ie has noticed his parties website incorrectly refers to the first citizen of Cork as just a Mayor.
There are only two Lord Mayors in the Republic of Ireland: The Lord Mayor of Dublin, and the Lord Mayor of Cork. In other Cities and Towns the figure head has to be content with the plain title of Mayor.
Could this failure to recognise of the Labour party to recognise the Lord prefix – which was granted by Royal charter in the year 1900 – hint that the Labour party is aligning itself with Sinn Fein? or is it just a mistake. Comments welcome. (It is of course, most likely the latter -Ed)
