Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire will soon arrive in West Cork!
Plans are developing to place sculptures of the American Icons – who have
Irish connections – along the Wild Atlantic Way near Schull
Bing Crosby’s great grand father came from Schull Parish, and nephew Harry
Crosby visited the ancestral home last year.
With 90 million people of Irish descent in the US and Canada, the sculpture
could be an extra tourist attraction for the scenic
part of Cork.

Fred Astairs Daughter lived in Castlepoint, and the dancer visited many
times.

The pioneer of Radio “Marconi ” lived for a time in Crookhaven and will
also be honoured.
One of the committee backing the sculpture project is Michael Collins. An
Independent County Councillor on the Mizen Peninsula
