Cork will not get any extra money from the Government to fix the famous
Shandon Clock on the Northside of Cork City..
The Taoiseach says the responsibility for repairing it rests with the City
Council
The so called “four faced liar” named so because it’s clocks never agreed,
stopped working completely more than 6 months ago and is stuck at “10
minutes past 12″
After pressure from a local election candidate Barry Keane (FG) the City
Council two days ago said options for repairing mechanism have been
identified, tendered and costed. But the local authority simply doesn’t
have the money, so nothing can happen until next years budget
Taoiseach Enda Kenny was about about the issue while in Cork yesterday he
said it’s a local issue that the City Council have to handle.
