The Everyman Theatre Company is marking its 50th anniversary.
A Civic Reception was held by the Lord Mayor this week in Cork City
Hall to mark the occasion.
The Everyman started in small room on Caste Street 1964, before moving to the Father Matthew Hall, and finally to its current building on
MacCurtain Street. The Victorian building on MacCurtain Street dates back to the 1890’s, and has 650 seats and an original interior.
It was home to a cinema called the Palace until 1990, hence the name Everyman Palace Theatre
Cork Actor Michael Twomey – best know for being one half of the comedy duo “Cha and Miah” says the building on MacCurtain Street
has been a music hall, cinema, and a Theatre
