Cork County Councillors have formally agreed to call on the Government to
“open up” the National Asset Management Agency by making it subject to the
Freedom of Information Act.
At today’s local authority meeting in COUNTY Hall a number of elected
representatives said they were reaching “brick walls” when it came to
dealing with issues raised by constituents where
NAMA was involved.
NAMA frequently declines to disclose information quoting “Commercial
sensitivity”.
Councillors said they have constituents living next to unfinished or empty
buildings which are now owned by NAMA but they cannot get answers as to
what is happening.
Fine Gael Cllr Deirdre Forde from the Carrigaline/Douglas area raised the
issue at todays meeting of Cork County Council.
