Cork City’s most senior Garda has moved to allay fears among the public about the recording of phone calls in stations,
Chief Superintendent Mick Finn says the only station in the Cork City Division where phone calls are recorded is the Anglesea Street Headquarters,
That station handles a large number of emergency and urgent calls
The Chief Super said he would not be commenting further as a National report is being compiled on the issue of call recording.
He was speaking at today’s meeting of the Cork City Joint Policing Committee; which brings together City Councillors and Gardai.
Cork South Central Fine Gael TD Jerry Buttimer was at the JPC meeting, and welcomed the clarification. He spoke with TheCork.ie
