Traffic problems on one of Cork Cities main arteries WILL be addressed.
Cork City Councillors have voted to formally invite a representative of the
National Transport Authority to the City to inspect Washington Street.
That street – like many others – had bicycle lanes installed before
Christmas,
but in doing so a lane of traffic and a popular nighttime taxi rank was
lost.
Taxi Drivers, Gardai, and a majority of Councillors agree that the new road
layout is NOT working,
but there’s has been little action on the ground.
North Main Steet and Popes Quay were also affected by unpopular road changes
Fine Gael Cllr Patricia Gosch proposed that an N-T-A representive
should be invited to Cork, so that some momentum can be built up, and the
road
fixed…
