Many Business owners in Cork City spent today cleaning up their premises
after
the River lee burst it’s banks and encroached on the South Terrace, South
Mall and Oliver Plunkett Street
and other low lying areas.
Claire Nash from the Cork Business Association also runs a Cafe on Princes
Street
She says City Council DID issue a warning, and workers were on the ground
clearing
drains as quickly as possible
That was today, now looking ahead….
More flooding is predicted for Cork City Centre
Tomorrow night – Tuesday.
It will be the same, or perhaps worse than this morning.
Council workers will be out tomorrow delivering sand bags and flood sacks
to supplement the defenses of City Centre premises
The Council will even be advising motorists to avoid the
City Centre Tomorrow night – Tuesday – around high tide at 9pm
Again, we asked Claire Nash from the Cork Business Association ,
if she would consider moving her Cafe out of town to avoid the flood
hassle, but the businesswoman insists the City Centre atmosphere
is the place to be!
