A road near the Apple Computer building in Hollyhill, Cork is to be re-named in honour of a popular former Lord Mayor.
Cllr David McCarthy – better known as “Davey Mac” – served as Lord Mayor in 1997
He passed away three years ago.
Plans are now in place to rename a road in Hollyhill, on the Northside of the City as “The David McCarthy Road” in the coming weeks.
The family of the late Councillor were consulted, and they expressed the wish that his FULL name be used.
The Road is located between the Tadgh Barry Road and the Apple Junction to Kilmore Heights
Local Labour Cllr Mick O’Connell tabled the motion suggesting that the road be re-named at this weeks City Council meeting
