Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice & Equality, David Stanton has welcomed the completion of the Lakeview slip road. The slip road opened to traffic on Friday evening, 8 November.
“I would like to congratulate Cork County Council on the successful completion of this important project at Lakeview. The success of the slip road in alleviating traffic congestion for vehicles approaching the roundabout from the southern side was evident this morning with traffic backlog considerably reduced”, said Minister Stanton.
“The Lakeview slip road allows traffic approaching on the R630 from Whitegate, Aghada, Cloyne and Ballinacurra and travelling on to Carrigtwohill, Little Island and Cork city and surrounding areas to avoid entering the Lakeview roundabout and so greatly improves the traffic flow in morning times. I am glad that drivers this morning were already advising of a substantial reduction in commuting times.
“In addition to the reduction in commuting times, the decrease in number of vehicles accessing the Lakeview Roundabout should also enhance road safety”, concluded David Stanton.
