Cork Senator Tim Lombard has confirmed an additional €41,250 has been allocated for the development of a playground for Bere Island, with funding now totalling €91,250 for the project.
Senator Lombard said: “Today’s additional funding allocation has been provided by Islands Section of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and represents a significant 75% of the cost to the local authority for the development of this facility.
“This project has already received €50,000 in CLÁR funding and today’s announcement ensures that there is great financial support for the development of a top-class facility for the Islands’ youth.
“Targeted investment like this is a great example of how Fine Gael in Government are supporting island communities”.
