National Lottery appeals to EuroMillions players in Mahon to check their tickets
S EuroMillions players in Co. Cork are being urged to check their tickets today after one lucky player, who bought their ticket in Mahon won the €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize on last night’s draw (Friday 11th October).
The National Lottery or ‘Lotto’ is the umbrella brand for Winning Streak. The enterprise is viewed as a form of entertainment, but it is gambling, as indicated by the fact that players must be 18 years or older
So far in 2019 alone, there have been a 23 winners of the €500,000 EuroMillion Plus top prize in Ireland. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold yesterday at the Easons store in the Mahon Shopping Centre, Mahon, Co. Cork.
The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers for last night’s draw were: 05, 20, 29, 35 and 44
While there was no winner of the €17,000,000 EuroMillions jackpot but there were more than 55,000 players won prizes in Ireland on last night’s draw.
Speaking on selling the lucky Quick Pick ticket, Brendan McCarthy, manager of the Easons store in Mahon Point Shopping Centre said: “Its tremendous news to get and this is the second time in two years we have sold a National Lottery winning ticket worth €500,000 as in September 2017 we sold a Lotto Plus 1 winner. We have no idea who the winner could be as Mahon Point Shopping Centre is the largest in Cork so it really could be anyone. We will be encouraging all our customers today to check their tickets as it could be them but to we hope it brings a lot of happiness to the winner, whoever he or she may be.”
A National Lottery spokesperson said, “EuroMillions luck in Ireland just seems to roll on as this is the 23rd winner of the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000. 2019 has been a truly historic year from a EuroMillions perspective as this year has seen the highest prize pay-outs for winners, buoyed by the €175.4 million win by the Naul Family Syndicate in February, and we could well see a new record number of EuroMillions Plus winners (record is 32 winners in 2017).”
“In recent the EuroMillions jackpot reached the €190 million cap and this excitement has really resonated with our players who won over €25.9 million in prizes since the roll started in July and those players have helped up to raise a massive €24.8 million for Good Causes all over Ireland such as local charitable organisations, sports clubs and community groups.”
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.4 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 32 years ago. In 2018 alone, more than €228 million was raised; the equivalent of €625,000 a day in support for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
