It’s going to be a busy few weeks at Cork City’s wonderfully unique venue, the deconsecrated church on the north side of the city. Live At St. Luke’s welcomes a vast array of talent which includes some big national and international names.
Sounds from a Safe Harbour festival takes over the building from Friday 13th September – Sunday 15th September bringing a number of exceptional world-class musicians: German musical duo GRANDBROTHERS, Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel, take to the stage on Friday 13th September; Danish indie rock trio EFTERKLANG will bring their haunting sounds and new 7-piece live-band for an afternoon show Saturday 14th September; Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Thomas Bartlett – renowned for their work together as part of The Gloaming and individually, unite to create an LP of exceptional beauty on a new self-titled album, released by The Dwelling / Real World Records 13th September. Bartlett on piano and Ó Raghallaigh on Hardanger d’amore, will perform their new songs live on Saturday 14th September; And on the Sunday of the festival, American folk artist SAM AMIDON presents Harry Smith’s ‘Anthology of American Folk Music’.
After a reverential performance at Live at St Luke’s in November 2018, Cork band THE ALTERED HOURS make a welcome return September 27th, alongside special guests THE BONK. The Altered Hours’ music takes on many forms, exploring vast psychedelic spaces, immediate post-punk tones, repetitive rhythms and propelling structures. Live, they have become known for their intense and exhilarating performances.
