The Cork Screen Commission is delighted to announce the appointment of
Colm Crowley, Head of Production RTÉ Cork, as Chair of the newly
formed Cork Screen Partnership. The announcement was made at a
reception at Cork City Hall hosted by the Lord Mayor of Cork to
celebrate the 58th Cork Film Festival Shorts Programme.
Cork Screen Partnership is made up of key stakeholders involved in the
screen, creative, business, tourism and education sectors in Cork. The
Partnership will advise and support the work of the Cork Screen
Commission in order to maximise the benefits that the screen
industries could bring to the economic and cultural life of Cork City
and County.
The Cork Screen Commission was established in 2011 by Cork County and
City Councils and Cork Film Centre to develop and promote film and TV
activity in Cork City and County; to promote the area as a filming
destination, both nationally and internationally, and to support
indigenous film activity by working with local film makers.
The establishment of the Cork Screen Partnership is an important
milestone in this development process, bringing together key players
from Enterprise, Tourism, Business and Education sectors to guide and
assist the Screen Commission in its various marketing and development
roles.
Speaking about his appointment Colm Crowley said “I am delighted to be
asked to take on this role at such a pivotal time, not only in the
development of film and TV industries in Ireland, but especially here
in Cork. Working with all our partners, both locally and
internationally, we are determined to position Cork as a major
location and production centre for both film and TV, and I look
forward to working with our film Commissioner, Niall Mahoney, in fully
promoting the City and County.”
