A major conference on cybersecurity in Cork will bring together experts from across the globe to discuss the growing challenges posed by cybercriminals. FutureSec 2019 will be held at Cork Opera House on September 24th next.
As cyber-attacks grow increasingly sophisticated each year and regulations are changing, the event will hear how companies need to anticipate developments and stay ahead of the curve. The widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence and cloud technologies coupled with the increasing demand of new cybersecurity skills means there can be no complacency when it comes to identifying the threat.
Amongst those contributing to FutureSec 2019 are
● Efrene Sakilayan FBI
● Koos Lodewijkx, IBM VP & CISO
● Dr Michael Connolly, Operational Director, Ireland East Hospital Group
The conference will include a series of keynote presentations, panel discussions and briefings held by cybersecurity practitioners and thought leaders operating at the very cutting edge of the industry. The organisers will also conduct a live hacking simulation on stage to show how easy it is for attackers to steal data over public WiFi. FutureSec 2019 will be the first cybersecurity conference to be ever held in Cork.
Raluca Saceanu, organiser of FutureSec 2019 says “Companies can no longer claim they are ignorant to the size and scale of the threat. Every second, of every minute, of every hour, there are attacks on IT infrastructure with the specific intent of disrupting business and stealing data. FutureSec 2019 brings together law enforcement and cybersecurity leaders from around the world to discuss that risk, and how companies can best prepare for it. We are particularly looking forward to hearing from Special Agent Sakilayan, whose work with the FBI will provide an invaluable insight into the minds of both cybercriminals, and those tasked with stopping them.”
The event will also hear from Cork based “White Hat hacker” Edi Skraba from Smarttech247. A “White Hat hacker” is an ethical computer hacker who helps test the preparedness of IT systems while helping to identify threats as they arise.
