Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State for Equality, Immigration & Integration, David Stanton, has welcomed confirmation that a new €1 million funding scheme, the Community & Voluntary Support Grant for Older Persons, is being made available to community and voluntary groups. €250,000 of this will be reserved for dementia-related projects.
“I am very pleased that Minister of State for Older People, Jim Daly TD, has announced the creation of the Community & Voluntary Support Grant scheme. Such funding, the distribution of which will be administered by the HSE, will greatly aid community and voluntary groups in the provision of services to older people,” said Minister Stanton.
“The scheme will allow these organisations to continue their valuable work in fields such as meals on wheels, day care and social care. It is envisaged that grants of between €5,000 and €20,000 will be available depending on a range of factors including project type, availability of additional funding sources and the number of applicants to the scheme.
“I would strongly encourage community and voluntary groups in Cork East to consider applying for a Community & Voluntary Support Grant. Successful projects must support the objectives of the National Positive Ageing Strategy, the Irish National Dementia Strategy, the Carers’ Strategy and the Task Force on Loneliness. The closing date for receipt of applications for the scheme is 15 August with allocations expected to be announced in September”, concluded Minister Stanton.
Further details on the scheme are available on the HSE website at: https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/4/olderpeople/support-grant-for-older-persons/community-voluntary-support-grant-for-older-persons.html
