Four Cork companies:
- UrParts.com,
- Slattery Validation Systems,
- PMD Device Solutions
- Alanya
will compete at the InterTradeIreland Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition’s Munster final in the Maryborough Hotel Cork today. The competition, which supports new start and early stage companies, offers a share of a €280,000 cash prize, with no equity stake taken in the winning company.
Slattery Validation Systems, based in Little Island, and PMD Device Solutions, based in Bishopstown, will be competing in the Early Stage category, with Waterford company Metalman Brewing also competing in this category, while Midelton-based UrParts.com and Bishopstown-based Alanya will be going head-to-head with Waterford company Q1 Scientific in the New Start category.
Slattery Validation Systems, trading as Zeto develops and manufactures hardware and software for the management of commercial refrigeration equipment. PMD Solutions develops non-invasive respiratory monitoring technologies. UrParts.com is an online network of buyers and suppliers of parts for construction, agricultural and commercial vehicles. Alanya developed a health monitoring system for dairy cows which improves the efficiency of farm breeding programs and reduces health care costs through early illness detection.
The competition is open to all independent companies incorporated in Ireland or Northern Ireland in the new start or early stages of business development and ideally targeting international markets. To make it to the regional finals, companies submitted full business plans to a panel of expert judges who selected each of the finalists based on a well demonstrated market opportunity and route to market, an impressive management team, clear financial projections and a direct pitch to investors. All the companies in the regional finals will now deliver an investment pitch in front of the judging panel comprising venture capitalists, business angels and some of the island’s leading industry entrepreneurs and business experts.
Prior to attending regional finals, each company attended an intensive one day investment pitch master class facilitated by InterTradeIreland, to help polish their presentation skills.
The winners of the InterTradeIreland Seedcorn Munster final will be announced on today.
The next stages of the competition can be followed on Twitter (@ITI_seedcorn), on LinkedIn (Seedcorn Network) and on the website www.intertradeireland.com/seedcorn.
