Muddy Hill Car Park Repair Works to Commence this Month, O’Shea confirms
North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed news that a contractor has been appointed to repair a rock face in Muddy Hill car park in Mallow, which will result in the reopening of a number of public parking spaces.
Cork County Council has confirmed to Cllr. O’Shea this week that Cumnor Construction have been appointed for the works and will mobilise on site next week.
“This section of the car park, which is important in Mallow given its proximity to the Town Centre and Market Square Shopping Centre, has been closed with several years now due to rocks falling off the rock face, which caused a health and safety issue for the public. Also in that part of the car park we have a Grotto, so making the area safe and accessible for the Legion of Mary Group and the many others who visit the Grotto is important.
“It’s been a long time coming, but these works are very welcome and I’m pleased to confirm that a contractor will be on site shortly. The works are expected to take approximately three months. Cork County Council has agreed with the contractor that, for the majority of the works, car parking can be accommodated in the lower part of the car park.
“I look forward to seeing these works progress over the coming weeks restoring our car park and grotto to its original state”. concluded Cllr. O’Shea added.
