Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West, Michael Moynihan TD has welcomed the allocation to Charleville of €100,000 under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for the enhancement of the town park.
Deputy Moynihan was commenting after the Department of Rural and Community Development announced the latest round of funding under this scheme to 224 rural towns and villages across the country.
“This funding will enable Cork County Council to make the town park in Charleville to make it a more attractive place to live, work and visit.
“The €100,000 funding will be matched with funding from the County Council to implement the much needed projects to enhance the town centre.
“I want to commend Cork County Council for their foresight and determination in securing this grant. In particular, local Fianna Fáil councillor, Ian Doyle deserves a lot of credit for his commitment to bringing together the various stakeholders needed to secure this positive result.
“I look forward to seeing this project get off the ground, and delivering a town park that everyone who lives, works and visits Charleville can be proud of,” concluded Moynihan.
