Managerless Cork City FC take on Kilbarrack United in the FAI Cup at
Turner’s Cross today (Bank Holiday Monday) kick off 5pm.
The game will be Stuart Ashton’s first in charge, and speaking
following training this morning, the caretaker manager told
CorkCityFC.ie: “It is a potential banana skin, but it is up to us,
it’s about what we do and if we look after what we do then we’ll be
alright. We are looking forward to the games, and hopefully the lads
will express themselves with a bit of belief; believe that we are in
the wrong position in the league and go on a good cup run. We want to
play attractive football, with the right attitude, be competitive and
hopefully that will work.”
Colin Healy (knee), John Dunleavy (knee) and Stephen Kenny (hamstring)
have all been struggling with injury, but all three trained this
morning and will be assessed tomorrow. Neal Horgan is also a doubt, as
he is suffering from flu. Darren Dennehy (foot), Kevin Burns (arm) and
Kevin Murray (groin) are definitely ruled out, while Kalen Spillane is
also out, as he serves the second game of a three match suspension.
Despite his sending off on Friday night, Daryl Horgan will be
available, with his suspension set to kick in for Friday’s league game
against Bohs, but Ciarán Kilduff will miss out as he is cup-tied.
Injury News: Kevin Burns, Kevin Murray, Darren Dennehy, Colin Healy,
John Dunleavy, Stephen Kenny.
