Officers from Revenue’s Customs Service at Cork Airport, yesterday
(04/08/2013), seized approximately 1 kilogram of cannabis with a
street value of €10,000, made up of pellets that had been ingested by
a man in his forties who was stopped on foot of routine profiling.
Revenue’s sniffer dog Max, gave a positive reaction to the Spanish
national who had disembarked a flight from Spain two days agp
(03/08/13).
Following questioning by Revenue’s Customs Officers the man was
detained under the Customs and Excise (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act
1988. He began passing the pellets at which time An Garda Síochana
were called in and he was taken to hospital where the remainder of the
swallowed drugs were passed under medical supervision.
The man was arrested by Gardaí, and brought to a City Garda Station.
