The Green Party, Cork Nature Network and Cork Environmental Forum are hosting a beach clean up in Little Island on 22 April to coincide with Earth Day.
Cork Green, Ted Bradley, who is coordinating the clean up, invited people to come and join them:
“We’re conscious of the environmental impacts of littering, fly tipping and single-use plastics. The Green Party has strong national policies to reduce packaging and waste. But as Cork-based organisations, we’re not only about planning for the future, we’re also about taking local action in the present. Little Island is part of Cork Harbour. Its mud flats are designated an area of Special Area of Scientific Interest. Hence this initiative. We encourage everyone who is available to come and join in the effort on the day.”
The litter pick up at Little Island will take place on Sunday 22nd April from 14:30–16:30. The event is part of An Taisce’s Nationals Spring Clean.
