The much anticipated Annual Student Marketing Challenge will take place at 6pm on Thursday, 19th April in Cork Institute of Technology. This event supports students by showcasing up and coming marketing talent and highlighting the innovation and creativity of the next generation of marketers.
This year, students will be tasked with proposing a public relations campaign for Alpes D’Or, a fine Belgian chocolate brand in existence since 1985, to maximise the impact of their sponsorship of the Dublin Horse Show, and to assist in the promotion of their chocolate and ice-cream cafés. With the Dublin Horse Show attracting 100,000 annual visitors from Ireland and across the world and with television coverage of the event shown in over 50 countries globally, this sponsorship was seen by Alpes D’Or as a key means of driving brand awareness and creating a positive brand image.
As per all MII Cork events, this is an ideal opportunity to hear some fresh marketing perspectives while also networking with the marketing community. The annual event is in partnership with the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) and Department of Marketing and International Business at CIT. Dr Pio Fenton, Head of the Department and former Chair of MII Cork said;
“Year on year we look forward to seeing our top marketing students’ presentations and this year is no different. No doubt we will yet again be reassured that the future of marketing as a profession is in safe hands. The task we have challenged them with this year is particularly complex, and with the Renaissance of Marketing underway in this ever-evolving age, I cannot wait to learn our students’ interpretation of marketing”.
Maressa Mills, Chair of The Marketing Institute Cork added;
“MII Cork is the home of senior marketing professionals in Cork – the majority of our members are senior marketers. We are lucky to hold a wealth of experience and knowledge in our grasp and this is something we hope to share with the Marketing students to ensure the next generation of marketers are well armed for the challenges and adventures they will face in our industry. With that said, the world is ever changing and I am intrigued to see what fresh new concepts these students will present to inspire us on the night. As always this event will connect and network with like-minded individuals. We provide our members with access to expert content (events, tools, training, insights, trends, research) which enables them to be informed, educated and empowered within the profession and to develop and grow their careers in marketing.”
This event is free of charge to members and those interested in the media and marketing world. With finger food and refreshments at the Cork Institute of Technology, online registration is essential as numbers are limited.
