Fine Gael TD for Cork South West and Minister of State Jim Daly has confirmed the news that the Model School, Dunmanway will now be allocated a school traffic warden.
After actively lobbying the Council with a number of years Minister Daly has received confirmation that necessary arrangements have been made to put this most important safety measure in place. Recruitment for the position will begin shortly through the Cork County Council.
The school will also see for the introduction of a flashing warning light system which is due to be put in place by the beginning of this school year.
The West Cork TD said, “this is an issue that has been raised on numerous occasions through my office and one that I have been working on for a number of years now. Both my colleague Cllr John O’Sullivan and I have been pushing strong for this decision as of late and I am glad to see a positive result to our representations.”
Minister Daly welcomes this long awaited progress for the school and praises the Council for their proactive work to date in resolving the matter.
