Following a busy year of inaugural European and transatlantic routes, Cork Airport has been shortlisted in the 2017 World Routes Marketing Awards.
Cork Airport has been nominated in the “Under 4 Million Passengers Award” category. Nominations for the prestigious awards are made by airlines for what they regard as exceptional marketing support for both new routes and existing services.
Cork Airport’s Managing Director Niall MacCarthy said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award, particularly because we were put forward by our airline partners. In efforts to gain new routes for the airport and the South of Ireland, it has been crucial to our strategic plan to also maintain support and promotion of our existing and long-standing routes.
“We are accompanied by a really strong calibre of international airports in our category. The Awards, held during World Routes 2017 will be an excellent opportunity for our team to also meet and plan with prospective airlines for the year ahead”, he added.
Cork Airport’s fellow category nominees are George Best Belfast City Airport, Nuremberg Airport, Olbia Costa Smeralda and Shannon Airport.
Cork Airport was highly commended in its category at the 2016 World Routes event in Chengdu, China.
The awards ceremony will take place during World Routes 2017 in Barcelona on September 25. The event will see over 3,000 airline, airport and tourism authority representatives meet to plan and negotiate new air services.
