Cork Midsummer Festival is delighted to announce the appointment of Lorraine Maye in the new position of Festival Manager, She will take up the position in early March, replacing former Executive Producer Eithne Egan, who has recently taken up a new position as Director of Operations and Communications at Music Generation. Lorraine Maye graduated with a BA in Economics and Sociological & Political Studies and a H.Dip Arts Administration from NUI,Galway. She also holds a first class honours Diploma in Public Relations from the PRII and a Diploma in Digital Marketing. Lorraine will be joining the Cork Midsummer Festival from Temple Bar Cultural Trust where she has worked as Events and Culture Night Manager since 2006. She has a wealth of experience in festivals, having worked in a variety of different roles for events both nationally and internationally including the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast, Cork Film Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Festival Director Tom Creed commented on Lorraine’s appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Lorraine Maye to Cork Midsummer Festival at this hugely exciting point in the Festival’s development. Her extensive experience with leading cultural events will be an invaluable addition to the Festival team, and help us reach an increasingly diverse audience with our ambitious programme over the coming years.” Cork Midsummer Festival is a smart, startling, annual festival that takes place in Cork city and county, and captivates a growing audience of all ages. Over ten days of world-class performances, special events and entertainment, it presents unique events in unexpected places and in all of Cork’s main arts venues. It brings the world to Cork, and shows Cork to the world. Tom Creed and the City of Cork are currently nominated for the Judges’ Special Award at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards “for original and dynamic use of local spaces as part of Cork Midsummer Festival” in 2012. The next edition of the Festival will take place from 21st–30th June 2013.
