Some 15 Hospitality trade staff from Co Cork, are among the first Wild Atlantic Way Champions of 2017 after completing the programme at the Maritime Hotel, in Bantry, West Cork. The Wild Atlantic Way Champions Programme is a specifically tailored programme devised by Fáilte Ireland for front line staff enabling them to enhance their knowledge of what the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer and provide excellence service to overseas visitors.
The new ‘Champions’ all received an official certificate and specially commissioned badge to acknowledge their participation at special workshops for the scheme. The initiative seeks to empower local operators as they set out to ensure that visitors will stay just a little longer in an area, spend more and recommend the Wild Atlantic Way globally.
Speaking about the Wild Atlantic Way Champion Programme, Marie Healy, of Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way team explained –
“The Wild Atlantic Way Champions Programme was designed to help tourism businesses improve the visitor experience they currently provide. Using local knowledge and being aware of what the Wild Atlantic Way can deliver to overseas visitors will, we believe, go a long way towards ensuring visitors stay longer, experience more and importantly, recommend the Southern Peninsulas & Haven Coast to family and friends when they return home.”
