CUH Charity want you on their team! Run, walk or jog the Cork City Marathon to raise much needed funds for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Cork University Hospital. On Sunday 4th of June, runners from all over the world will take to the streets of Cork to run the Cork City Marathon.
Sinead Kane, World Marathon Challenge athlete and runner, joined staff from the Intensive Care Unit at CUH to launch ‘Run for ICU at CUH’ to encourage all runners, including relay runners, or runners who would like to do the full or half marathon and join in the challenge to support the ICU Unit at the hospital.
Despite having only 5% vision, Sinead Kane made history in January 2017 by becoming the first visually-impaired athlete to complete the World Marathon Challenge – seven marathons on seven continents in seven days. She is also the first Irish female to do the world marathon challenge completing 295km of running, 43,509 km flight distance and 59 hours of flight time.
Dr Dorothy Breen said ‘It is such a privilege to be part of an amazing team in ICU at CUH. We are encouraging all our friends, family, colleagues and members of the public to run the Cork City Marathon in aid of the work of the Intensive Care Unit in CUH and raise funds for vital equipment. We are always so grateful for the amazing support of our patients and the public towards our work and are looking forward to seeing all you runners, but in particular relay runners out there on Sunday 4th June!’
