A group of top teaching professional golfers from golf clubs across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden were this week in Ireland to play some of our top links courses and sample the best of what Ireland has to offer its golfing visitors.
The Nordic professionals were invited to Ireland by Fáilte Ireland to participate in a workshop at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, where sixteen of Ireland’s leading golf clubs including Cork’s Fota Island Resort Golf Club and Hayfield Manor Hotel, to pitch to the Nordic professional golfers to gain business for the year ahead. This event is part of Fáilte Ireland’s ongoing work in providing as many platforms as possible for our golf industry, to sell their product and the relationships that can be started through this workshop, will serve the clubs well into the future.
Speaking on the workshop, Tony Lenehan, Head of Golf, Fáilte Ireland, commented:
*“This was a fantastic opportunity for both Fota Island Resort Golf Club and the Hayfield Manor Hotel to come and meet with the Nordic golfing professionals to try and entice more golfing visitors to Cork. When these professionals talk to their clients about potential destinations for golfing holidays as part of their day to day interaction, we hope that Wexford will be top of their list as a wonderful experience. *
