RTÉ Director General and Drimoleague native Dee Forbes is the special guest at this year’s Marymount Hospice Annual lunch which takes place in four weeks time – on Friday 7th April 2017 – “I have experienced first-hand the love, care and support that Marymount gives to families and I am delighted to attend and to support Marymount on the day,” said Ms Forbes.
A native of Drimoleague in West Cork, Dee is also a founder and board member of Ireland’s first rural digital centre, the Ludgate Hub, Skibbereen
Now in its 12th year the Annual Lunch takes place on Friday 7th April in the Maryborough Hotel and is a key event in the Marymount fundraising calendar.
“We are absolutely honoured to welcome Dee Forbes,” said Paula McGovern, head of fundraising and communications in Marymount. “We hope her presence will help raise awareness of this important fundraising event for us and also the invaluable work that takes place in Marymount every single day.”
Marymount is based in a new state-of-the-art facility in Curraheen, Cork. Marymount provides specialist palliative hospice care, a community based palliative care team and specialist care for older people.
In 2016 Marymount supported more than 3,000 families throughout Cork through its in-patient and outpatient services and in the wider community, with the demand for its services growing each year.
While it offers its specialist palliative care services free of charge, Marymount is only funded approximately 70% by the state each year and needs 30% – or €3million – of its income to be raised through other sources including fundraising each year to ensure it can continue to provide its needed services.
Tickets for the lunch are €60 and can be bought at www.marymount.ie or by calling the fundraising office on 021 4501201 or email fundraising@marymount.ie
