Cork City Council is launching the 2017 Building Facade Improvement Grant Schemes for the South Douglas Street Area and Blackpool. The aim of the scheme is to improve the character and appearance of these historic areas of the city.
Well kept and attractive buildings improve the appearance of an area, and also help to instil pride and a wider confidence boost to an area. The financial incentives are to encourage people to paint and / or undertake repairs to their buildings. More than 100 buildings have benefitted from the scheme in the last two years.
The Grant scheme is open to residential and commercial property owners. Grants will be awarded for 50% of the costs of qualifying improvement works, up to the maximum value of €1,250 per building, or €2,500 per street corner building.Qualifying works may include painting, joinery and minor external repairs to plaster, render, gutters, downpipes.
Property owners are invited to make applications to the City Council from Monday 13th February up to the deadline of Friday 10th March 2017
