The Nightmare Realm, “Ireland’s most terrifying scare attraction”, is now recruiting staff to play a part in the live horror experience taking place in Albert Quay, Cork for the month of October.
Release your inner monster and terrify thrill seekers who dare to enter the Realm. The only criteria being that you are outgoing, willing to embody the role of your character and instil hysteria on your victims.
As an actor at the Realm, you will be trained in the art of psychological scare tactics and you will be transformed via the use of professional masks, costumes, makeup and prosthetics. You will become a weird and manic character, truly the stuff of nightmares! No previous acting experience is required and this year the Realm is searching for people with special and remarkable traits and even double acts.
“We’re looking for the weird and wonderful this year to help us take The Nightmare Realm to the next level” according to Karl O’Connor, creator of The Nightmare Realm. “The characters we have created rely on fearless and shameless people behind them to bring them to life or in some cases, back from the dead, people who really throw themselves in to it and make their character their own. We’re all about pushing the boundaries and the characters are designed to terrify attendees in lots of different ways – facial expression, blood curdling screams and even the slightest movement made at just the right time. We’d love to see anyone come down to the audition who thinks they could make an impact. Sometimes it’s people with no acting experience who work best, so if you think it’s for you, come along and show us what you can do.
The Nightmare Realm is also holding special effects make up trials for skilled make-up artists with an interest and talent for realistic gore make-up effects. People experienced with prosthetic appliances is a must.
You will be given 1 hour to impress their judges, so you will need to bring your own model, make up and tools. The make-up trials take place at The Nightmare Realm Albert Quay Cork on Saturday 20th August from 6-7.30pm.
The Nightmare Realm has carved out a notorious reputation for testing the limits of sanity and crafting the artistry of fear to capture the depths of your imagination. Each year the event is re-themed, with a new set of costumes and improved special effects. This year, events will be taken to a new level of horror full of twisted psychological games.

Useful info for the audition:
- Over 16’s only, older enthusiasts are welcome
- No costumes or make up needed
- Move outside your comfort zone, be confident and don’t hold back!
- No screaming please. Do something weird or creepy, or make some unusual noises or movements instead
- Have something prepared to show us and be prepared, you will have scenarios thrown at you.
- We want to get to know who you are, tell us about yourself and what makes you tick, and make it memorable!
- All positions are paid positions and all need commitment for the month of October
