Fianna Fáil has today named of two new local area representatives in Rochestown, Douglas and rural Cork South Central. The appointment of Brendan Finucane and Ray O’Mahoney is the next step in the party’s ongoing renewal strategy.
22-year-old Brendan Finucane will represent the party in the Rochestown area. He has recently graduated from UCC with an honours degree in Business and Information Systems, and is now working on setting up his own business in the Western Gateway Building.
25-year-old Ray O’Mahony is a graduate of UL and UCC and has a Masters in Government. He now works in business operations in Quest Software. He has been appointed to represent the party in the rural areas of Cork South Central.
The Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin said: “Brendan and Ray will be two of our youngest local area representatives in the country and I am delighted that they will be working alongside me and my colleagues in Cork.
“The energy and commitment I have seen at all levels of the party in Cork and around the country has been extremely heartening. Ray and Brendan are lively, active young members of Fianna Fáil who are dedicated to their local communities. They will both play a strong role in the party’s renewal in Cork and in mobilising the younger generation of Fianna Fáil members locally and nationally,” said Deputy Martin.
At 22 years of age, Brendan Finucane is the youngest Fianna Fáil area representative in the country.
“It is an honour to be appointed a Local Area Representative for Fianna Fáil in Rochestown,” said Brendan. “I want to ensure that the particular challenges facing this community are addressed. I look forward to working with local Councillor Seamus McGrath to bring forward policies that will make a real difference to the lives of people in Rochestown and Douglas.”
Ray O’Mahony commented, “I am proud to do my part to help renew Fianna Fáil and renew people’s faith in politics. I will work hard to make a positive difference to communities across rural Cork South Central. I am acutely aware of the problems that so many families and young people in this area are facing at this time, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure their voices are heard.”
