The Clonakilty Easter Commemoration Committee will hold the final of their commemorations marking the centenaries of the executions of the 1916 leaders when they will remember Roger Casement this Wednesday evening 3rd August at 8pm.
The commemoration will be held at the Casement St./Casement Park junction in Clonakilty at 8pm and the organisers welcome all to participate – in particular local residents.
The Clonakilty Easter Commemoration Committee organises the annual 1916 commemoration in the town each year since 1981, and this year over 300 people participated in a march prior to the commemoration.
Also during this centenary year, they have marked the centenaries of the executions of all the 16 leaders of the rising with many of these held on streets in Clonakilty named after those Easter 1916 leaders.
