Cork City Women’s FC honoured their player’s achievements for the past season at their annual awards evening this week.
The event was held at The Briar Rose in Douglas and was attended by players, management and board members of Cork City Women’s FC as well as FORAS Chairman Pat Lyons and representatives from the club’s sponsors.
Club Chairperson Chris O’Mahony praised the players and management for their on-field displays this season, while also expressing his hope that the club will continue to progress both on and off the field.
O’Mahony made a special presentation to outgoing board member Joseph McSweeney who was standing down after four seasons on the club’s board of management. The chairperson also expressed his thanks to the club’s main sponsors Just Cuts for Ladies as well as the club’s other sponsors Blarney Chocolate Factory, Reusch Ireland and the players individual sponsors, before finishing his address by thanking FORAS for their continued support of the club.
First team manager Frank Kelleher also expressed his hope and expectation that the club will continue to improve their results in the coming season and praised the players and coaches for their commitment and also acknowledged the work being done by Charlie Lynch and his coaches at the Cork City Women’s Academy.
The final speaker of the evening Pat Lyons, praise the club for their continuous improvements, while also expressing his hopes for the club in the future.
The various award winners for the season were announced and presented with Evelyn Daly picking the player of the year award, Tara O’Gorman was the young player of the year with Maggie Duncliffe picking up the goal of the season and Ciara Desmond was the club’s top scorer.
