Residents of the Skehard Road want their suburban roundabout back!
The City Council replaced it with a set of traffic lights last month, but locals say it is causing chaos
Many motorists are now using residential side roads to avoid lights, and peoples daily journeys are taking longer.
Over 40 residents from various estates gathered in City Hall last evening to exert moral pressure on Councillors.
When Fine Gael Cllr Jim Corr spoke about how removing the roundabout was a “wise decision” residents in the public gallery shouted the word “Rubbish” and staged a walkout.
Sinn Fein Cllr Chris O’Leary – who is on the side of the residents – says Council Engineers seem to have a “fetish for traffic lights”, he wants the roundabout to be rebuilt
