Unbeaten Irish BUI Middleweight Champion Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan from Mahon, Cork will be fighting for the WBO International Middleweight Title on Saturday 14th July 2012 at Upton Park Stadium in London, England.
Spike’s opponent on the night will be Manchester fighter Mathew Hall, and their title fight will be the co-main event alongside the highly anticipated British heavyweight showdown between David Haye and Dereck Chisora at West Ham United’s Upton Park Stadium in London.
The show is being promoted by BoxNation in association with Sauerland Events and Hayemaker Boxing, and will be the fourth of Spike’s fights in association with UK promoter Frank Warren. Spike’s trainer and manager is Paschal Collins, brother of former WBO Middleweight and Super-Middleweight champion Steve ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Collins.
Spike can’t wait to get to work, saying “It’s fantastic news. I have incredible supporters, particularly here in Ireland and I’m delighted to have this opportunity to do what I always promised I would do and bring a major title home to the people of Cork. I’m working hard in the gym with my trainer and manager Paschal Collins and we’re ready. I can’t wait to get into the ring and get on with it.”
Spike comes to the bout with a perfect record of 14 fights, 14 wins and 9 knockouts.
