Gardaí in Clonakilty, West Cork are investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Rosscarberry, Co Cork on the 8th of March 2016.
At approximately 7.10pm an 18-year-old male pedal cyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by a car at Barley Hill, on the Clonakilty to Skibereen Rd just west of Rosscarberry. He was pronounced dead at the scene,his body has been removed to CUH and a post mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow morning the 9th March. The driver of the car, a man in his late 60’s, was uninjured.
The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who was on that road between 6.30pm and 7.10pm this evening to contact them at Clonakilty Garda station on 023 8821570, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
